Biography

Lou Ellen (Key) Cooper was born in Cedarville, Arkansas, on January 22, 1950, and passed away on March 20, 2024. She was one of 10 children born to Claude Allen Key and Vola Mae (Carter) Key. She met her husband, Frankie Lee Cooper Sr., at her 14th birthday party, and they were inseparable after that. They later married on December 22, 1966. Together, they had five children: Jennifer Luann Cooper, Frankie Lee Cooper Jr., JoAnna Lynn (Cooper) Easter, Scotty Allen Cooper, and LuWella Dawn (Cooper) Harris.

Lou worked most of her life as a lab technician at Hudson Foods in Stilwell, Oklahoma, but she had many jobs, including being a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and sister in Christ. She was of the Baptist faith. She never left you wondering about her faith; she always shared the gospel with others and even started a church. Her health kept her from attending church, but that did not stop her from believing that one day she would be healthy again and walking on the streets of Heaven.

Lou made a difference in many people’s lives. She always took the time to make sure that everyone she met knew they always had a place to stay or something to eat; I’m sure that is something that she learned from her mom.

Her most prized possession was her grandchildren. She loved each one—twelve to be exact—and could talk for days about them. Each one was special to her, and each one felt like her favorite.

She loved photographs, going through them and talking about her memories when each one was taken. She loved singing, Little Debbie snack cakes, sunshine, yellow roses, and honeysuckle (even though she was allergic to them).

Lou is survived by four children, Frankie Cooper, JR and wife Michelle, JoAnna Easter and husband John, Scotty Cooper, and LuWella Harris and husband Chad. 11 grandchildren, Sarah Green, Jesse Cooper, Marc Cooper, Samantha Miller, Kasha Barker, McKayla Henson, Jennifer Vance, Frankie Lee “Trey” Cooper III, Christian Cooper, Kaleb Harris, and Chloe Harris. 11 great-grandchildren, Kiah, Caden, and Olivia Barker, Hadley Henson, Nolan Green, Peyton Cooper, Shane, Ryleigh, and Brenleigh Miller, Heavenly Smith, and Ryan Hall. Three sisters, Jackie Price, Vicki Harlin, and Mary Lou Stewart, one brother, Jimmy Key, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frankie  Lee Cooper, SR; her parents, Claude and Vola (Carter) Key; her daughter, Jennifer Cooper; her granddaughter, Aubree Harris; her siblings, Lea Lovejoy, Billy Key, Danny Key, Bobby Key, and Betty Skinner.

You will be remembered as a selfless, generous woman who never gave up, no matter how difficult life became.
