Biography

Darrell Ivan McElhaney, 63, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on January 2, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Darrell was born in Houston, Texas, to Clarence and Helen McElhaney (Jaynes) on February 1, 1960. He graduated from Braggs High School. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Tubular for many years. He was honored to serve in the Marine Corps. He has been married to the love of his life since February 2, 1995. He was a proud father of 4 amazing children.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Dee Dee; his children, Anna and Matt Muskrat; Darrell and Holly McElhaney; Misty Seymour, Ethan and Kay McElhaney. His siblings were Sherry and Charles Cauthon, Kathy McElhaney, and Jeff and Mary McElhaney; his grandchildren Blair and Brooklyn Kelley, McKennon McElhaney, Amelia Seymour, Ryder Lanning, Nevaeh, and Rylan Norton, Maci and Colten Smith, and Landon and Harley Bottoms. Numerous extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joy Hayes and Barbara McElhaney.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024, in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel at Forever Memories Funeral Services in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The family will greet visitors from 5:00 – 6:00.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Vian, Oklahoma, with Isaac Slape officiating. Final resting place will be Box Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Darrell McElhaney, Ethan McElhaney, McKennon McElhaney, Dillon Freeland, Shane Chandler, and Donnie Chandler.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Cates, Nick Riggs, Dave Elbert, and Elder James Roberts “Jameo.”

The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Forever Memories Funeral Services, INC., Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
