Biography

Larry “Scott” Speer, born July 9, 1956, went home to Jesus on September 3, 2024, at the age of 68.

He served in the United States Navy from 1974 – 1977. He was a carpenter by trade and head of maintenance at the Vian Public Schools for 20 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Monte “Red” Speer of Vian, Oklahoma, and Helen Speer (Nicholas) of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and his brother, Billy Speer of Vian, Oklahoma.

He is survived by four siblings: Paula Sanders of Chelsea, Oklahoma; Kathy and Mike Bowner of Gore, Oklahoma; Stephen Speer of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and Teresa and Gary Gott of Vian, Oklahoma. He also has two grandsons, C.J. and Jonathon Saffel, three nephews, Nathan and John Sanders and Monte Honeycutt, one great niece, Skyla Honeycutt, and four great-nephews, Talon, Jase, Mason, and Kyle Honeycutt.

Cremation is under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and at Scott’s request, there will be no services.
