John Levi Swimmer

John Levi Swimmer, 91, of Vian, Oklahoma, passed away in Vian, Oklahoma on December 07, 2024. John was born in Vian, Oklahoma, to Joseph Samuel Swimmer and Bessie Whittenburg (Buttery) on February 28, 1933.

John was an honored Cherokee War Veteran serving in the Korean War.

John is survived by the Mother of his Children, Virginia Swimmer; their children, Johnny, Jeff, Sherry, and Sonja; his grandchildren, Andrea Swimmer, Nicole (Ryan) Taylor, Victoria (Cale) Gillespie, Alyson Hohrman, Steven Swimmer (Cindy), and Jeremy Swimmer (Cheryl); Stephanie Stilwell (Matt), Sandy Cooper, and Tanner (Lindsey) Cooper; and 16 great-grandchildren.

John had 12 siblings; he had half-siblings, adopted siblings, and stepsiblings, as well as his biological siblings; some have passed away, and some are still living today; what is most important is that they all know he loved them equally the same.

John is preceded in death by his parents. His father died when he was very young, and he had many significant influences in his life that played the role of father.

Visitation will be from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Services in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The family will greet guests from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Box Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma, with Dave Ritter officiating.

Pallbearers are Jeremy Michael Swimmer, Steven William Swimmer, Tanner James Cooper, Cale Gillespie, Jalen Sequichie, and Ryan Elijah Taylor.

Honorary Pallbearers are George Harris, Samuel Valdivia, Rex Brooks, Jim Brooks, Richard Tyler, Jeff McGowan, Ray Gwinn, Rodger Ross, and Short Richards.

The Family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Forever Memories Funeral Services, INC, Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
