Biography

Jimmie “Jim” Taylor McCleod, 84, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, passed away on September 9, 2024, surrounded by those he loved dearest. Jim was born at home in the Pawpaw Community to Wesley Hobson McCleod and Hazel Irene McCleod (Humphries) on November 7, 1939. Jim was a highway inspector for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for over 30 years. He retired in 1994. Jim was a devoted father; often, when their mother was away working, he would handle tending to the children, seeing that they attended church every Sunday. He spent his time working and felt staying busy was the best use of his time; if he wasn’t working, he was with his loved ones soaking up their presence, playing with the grandkids, or simply sitting on the front porch appreciating life.

Jim is survived by his children, Cathy and Gil Brown, Mark and Teresa McCleod, Dave McCleod, Cindy and Gary Pratt; his siblings, Geneva Smith and Linda Meeks; 12 grandchildren, Misty, Joshua, Mandy, “Tiny Man,” Mary Beth, Tara, Jacob, Ashley, Courtney, Casee, Brooke, and Jackson Brown. 18 great-grandchildren; Raven, Tristin, Colten, Aiden, Lexin, Titus, Ariana, Levi, KerrisLynn, Kaylor, Jemma, Sawyer, Easton, Nora, Asher, Lincoln, Jensen and Silas and one great great grandchild, Korbyn.

He is preceded in death by his spouse, Margie; his parents, Wesley and Hazel; his son, James Stephen McCleod; his sisters, Mary Flatt and Betty Bell; and his brothers, Leroy and Jerry McCleod.
