Biography

Jerry Lealand Woody passed away on November 28, 2022, at his home in Sallisaw, OK.

Jerry worked at Baldor Electric for many years reaching the position of Superintendent. Later he did carpentry building houses and furniture. He enjoyed horses, motorcycles, music, playing guitar, and banjo. His best time was spent with his family and grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Woody; parents Jim and Vela Woody; sisters Marcedith Martin, Janelle Gordon, Kay Stephens, and Jeannye Cowens.

Jerry is survived by his children Bill and Scarlette Prater, and Cindy Watterson all of Sallisaw, OK.; brothers and sisters Lahoma Bigby of Tahlequah, Chuck and Judy Eklund of Roland, and Randall and Michele Woody of Long, Oklahoma; grandchildren Savannah and Jon Wooten, Sabrina and Douglas Thompson, Colton and Brittany Watterson, Cody Watterson and Lacy Watterson; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Active Pallbearers are grandsons and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel at Forever Memories Funeral Services, 463505 Hwy 101 Sallisaw, OK. With Pastor Monroe Lawrimore officiating. Interment will follow at Long Cemetery in Long Oklahoma.

    Love him so much. I’ll always cherish the time I got to spend with him…him trying to teach me how to play guitar and him just playing for us to get to sing a song or two. He is forever in my heart. You all are in my prayers.
