Biography

Dora Frances Scott, 79, of Vian, Oklahoma, was born February 2, 1945, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Eldee Miller Yahola. Dora passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024, surrounded by family. She attended Vian High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball. She went on to work for 39 years as a laundry tech at the Vian Nursing Home. Dora married Claude Scott Jr. on April 18, 1962, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. They loved spending time with family, especially their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her Nana. One of Dora’s delights was shopping with her daughter and sisters.

She is survived by her husband Claude (Dink) of the home; children Paula and Harrison Kert Kyle of Roanoke, VA, Dink Scott of Vian, Sandra and Mike Spencer of Vian, and David and Marsha Scott of Sallisaw; grandchildren Tyler and Amanda Spencer, Hunter and Natalie Spencer, and Joshua Scott; great-grandchildren Gentry, Gemma, Ezra and Gatlin; siblings Raymond and Carol Yahola, Patty and the late Lawrence Posey, DeeDee and Bo McCoy, and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Eldee Yahola, and her grandparents, William and Hettie Miller.

Pallbearers are Tyler Spencer, Hunter Spencer, Joshua Scott, Harrison Kert Kyle, Jackie Calcote, Alex Yahola, and Marcus Yahola.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

The celebration of Dora’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Forever Memories Funeral Services, with Pastor Jimmy Hunt and Rev. Patty Posey officiating.

Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian.

The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Forever Memories Funeral Services, INC.
