Biography

Joe Bryan Ashley, 63, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on January 04, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Joe was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Joe Bailey Ashley and Gracie Irene Ashley (Hickle) on April 30, 1959. He called Tulsa home for many years of his life. He was very skilled and gifted in all his work. When doing anything, he did it with excellence. From carpentry, painting cars, bodywork as well as mechanical, it was always done well. He thoroughly enjoyed working with his hands and was always ready for his next task, often seeking them out before they would come to him. He took so much pride in anything his name was attached to that he would often always double back on any job to ensure it was more than exceptional because that’s what he strived for, always.  Joe enjoyed riding motorcycles. His favorite pastime was going to the lake with his speed boat, and with either speed boat or motorcycle, he did like to go fast. Very fast! Joe loved his family and his friends. He never met a stranger. He was always willing to help no matter the need. He loved the Lord and talked about him every chance he got. His greatest desire for the end of his life was to be where he is now, in the arms of his Savior Jesus. He was met at the Pearly Gates by his long-time four-legged best friend, Snoop dog. They traveled many miles together. They are sure to be traveling those streets of gold together for eternity, and as you guessed, if there is a way, they’re still going fast.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and one great-nephew, Amos Wilson Lillard.

Joe is survived by one sister, Linda and Jack Lillard. One niece, Shannon and Colin Westcott. Nephew Austin and Missy Carrigan. Nephew Hayden and Anna Lise Lillard.

Six great nieces and nephews.

I’m sad I was.not able to personally know Joe longer than I did. He spent a lot of time with someone I know that was his dearest friend and we prayed for Joe many times and he prayed with my dear friend for my personal serious condition where God answered the tons of prayers for me that God healed me here on earth so we all praised God. Then a week before Thanksgiving I contacted my friend as my mom was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer so God healed me and was going to take my mom to her eternal home. My friend contacted Joe and they began to pray for my moms healing and my families comfort beyond understanding. God healed my mom on December home after she took her cross necklace off her neck, placed it in my hand and looked at me with tears puddled in the inside corners of her eyes and she smiled at me with one very tight squeeze of my hand and she went to her eternal home with God but I told her I was going to be ok and then peace rushed over her face and she had the most beautiful peaceful smile on her face so she was healed and with God. Joe knew of my mom and that she passed away as my dear friend Jan with Joe we’re praying for our family and thanking God for giving my mom a quick peaceful healing. I learned that Joe was struggling during that time and his condition became graver so I just continued to pray. Joe never met my mom in person that I remember but I know they have met by now and celebrating the eternal life healed with God. I know heaven gained two incredible guardian angels by his throne but our hearts are celebrating for them but heartbroken we are not with them. God, Faith, Gods Grace, Gods unconditional Love , friends and are family is all we have and we need to spend all the time we have on earth continuing the legacy of our family and friends that have gone to their eternal home that God has promised to all of us when we reunite in Heaven! I won’t blow smoke as my heart is shattered and I know I’m in mourning over my mom but also for Joe as he gave his many hours even when he was struggling with my health, my dads serious illness that almost took his life before my mom but yes Joe continued to pray for a stranger even when his time left here with us on earth was limited and he was struggling and in pain himself as I learned in the short time I knew Joe that it was his love for God and faith because that was the way Joe lived willing to do Gods will in every breath he took and lived sharing Gods unconditional love and forgiveness of their shortcomings so thy knew God and where the promise of eternal life would be as long as they believed and asked for God to forgive them. What a special addition God has gained by his thrown. Joe was a very kind man just like my mom was too. It’s hard to understand our grief and that they passed away less than 30 days apart. Thank you God for blessing so many people that included strangers to Joe. He loved his family and his very close friends very much and unconditionally where he would give the shirt off his back. Rest in peace as your healed and with amGod and others that passed before you celebrating, praising God with others in eternal peace in heaven. I know they are singing and dancing with the angels. My only regret was not knowing Joe longer than I did. May God bless us all as we.grieve but also rejoice the ultimate healing they received. Thank you Joe for sharing your dear friend Jan. With me when my life seemed so sad and complicated. I’m praying for all your family and friends. Joe was a very special prayer warrior that was sent to our family and I’m. Offering my support to your family. Rest in peace Joe and we should all remember the way Joe lived his life as an example to help us live our lives doing Gods will all the time not just when one finds it convenient as God shed His blood for us and suffered and I’m sure he didn’t suffer and forgive the ones that nailed him to the cross was not convenient but he just Did it For Our forgiveness so we have an eternal home where I know that Joe and my mom who passed on 12/10/22 are at their eternal home in heaven. Thank you God for Joe and all the lives he touched . Thank you Joe, rest in peace our friend!

I am so sorry to hear about Joe. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I know it has been many years since I have last seen/spoke to Joe but I will always remember how fondly my dad Tommy spoke of him and I also remember when my dad was sick and going through his cancer treatments Joe would call my dad to check up on him and see how he was doing, it really meant a lot to him.
