Biography

Wilma Lee Fite, age 65, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 12, 2018. She passed peacefully at the Gore Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Wilma was born August 25, 1953 in Oakley, MO to Alfred James Hill and Maxiene Evelyn Eldridge Hill. She was a graduate of Bernie High School in Bernie, MO. She married Charles Richard Fite on March 15, 1973. Wilma was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. When she was able, Wilma loved to garden and tend to her chickens. Wilma always had a beautiful smile on her face and could always find joy in any situation. Her pet name was giggle box. Wilms’s greatest joys were her grandchildren. She came to faith in Jesus Christ on September 5, 2018, which gave her great peace during her last days. Days before she passed, Wilma stated to her brother-in-law, Steven,”Where I am going, it’s happy”.. Wilma is survived by her husband Charles Fite of Paden, OK. Son and daughter-in-law Billy and Emilie Fite of Vian, OK. Son and daughter-in-law Carl and Krystal Fite of Paden, OK. Daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Kevin Cortez of Paden, OK. Eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Sister and brother-in-law Glenda and Gaylan Starnes, Betty Vaugh, Bessie Cooper all of Missouri, Rose and Dan West of Texas. Brother-in-law Steven and wife Marie Fite of Poteau, OK. Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.Visitation will be Friday, Sept 14, 2018 from 4-7pm in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of the Forever Memories Funeral Service, Sallisaw. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept 15, 2018, at 1 pm in the Vian Freewill Baptist Church with Brother Gary Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Vian. Casket bearers will be Bill Sandford, Japheth Sandford, Randell Bare, Bill Sharp, Charles Toles, and Chris Stretch.The Fite family has entrusted the Forever Memories Funeral Service, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw, with the arrangements.

  1. Billy,Melissa,Carl and family I am so heart broken of the passing of Wilma she was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known every time I would see her she always had a hug smile and how are your girls doing I will miss her dearly praying for each and everyone of you I love you all "Hugs"
