Wesley Miller

Biography

Wesley “Chip” Miller, 49, passed away at his home early Saturday morning, Jan. 25, 2020. He was born on July 10, 1970 to Jimmy and Anna (Philpot) Miller.Chip went by many different names; husband, dad, brother, and friend. Sometimes even by his given name, Wesley, but his favorite was Pops. Before he was born, he already had a nickname. If memory serves correctly, it goes like this …. if you remember a tv show called “My Three Sons”, being the youngest of five, some of his brothers decided to call him Chip. As we all know, it stuck. Chip once said it was in the second grade before he knew his given name.Growing up in a small town made him the friends he has today. Being a ninja with numbchucks, riding bikes, playing football, track, chorus, and backroading with his buds. Roman candle, bottle rocket wars, paint ball fights, the stories are endless of the shenanigans they pulled throughout the years.Chip graduated from Sallisaw High School in 1989 and is forever a Black Diamond. He married his high school sweetheart, Laura. They had two beautiful, smart, strong, talented girls.Trampolines, lawnmower rides, sledding down grannies hill in the snow are some great memories. Chip enjoyed watching his girls do their thing, cheer, tumble, basketball, and softball. But the best, was the socker bopper fights with the neighborhood kids.Chip wore many hats through the years. A graduate of Conners State College, a reserve officer for the Sallisaw PD, a manager at the Sallisaw Mazzzio’s, all before going to work at Baldor Electric in Ft. Smith, where he celebrated 20 years this past July.He liked nothing better than time with family and friends, especially with his brothers and their families. Birthdays, holidays, go carts, and hillbilly slip n slides. But nothing like fireworks and making sparkler bombs with Andrew and Whitney.Searching for seashells on the beach, Greek mythology, astrology, metal detecting, were all some of his hobbies. Chip recently got a telescope to teach Cadee Rae about the stars and constellations. Nothing could compare to singing with Cadee, and their favorite was Birmingham Jail. He always encouraged her to sing, and allowed her every opportunity to touch any and all musical instruments. The piano and keyboard, the guitar, the fiddle, and next on the list was the ukulele. Something a little more her size.Chip will be missed and mourned by many. He will continue to exist in our hearts, because we will remember him and love him always. Chip is survived by his wife, Laura of the home; Daughter, Sarah and John Mays; Grandchildren, Cale, Callie, and Cadee Rae Mays; Brothers, Johnny and Debbie Brewer of Rudy, AR, Dennis and Janelle Brewer of Sallisaw, Mike and Yvette Miller of Sallisaw, and Keith and Tasha Miller of Sallisaw; lifelong friends, Jeff Harrell, Kelly Miller; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Miller; Step-mother, Jenny Miller; Daughter, Whitney Miller; and his mother, Anna Chandler.Memorial services for Chip will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 10:00 am in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Service, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw.
