Biography

Wanda Kay (Carter) Cowett, 65, of Vian, Oklahoma, passed this life on February 9, 2018 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was born May 29, 1952 in the Brushy Mountain Community, to Russell and Myrtle (Brock) Carter. She was an extremely caring person that loved everything about life. She was a God-loving Christian and was ordained March 5, 1997 by Jesus Name Church in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She will not be forgotten.She is survived by her son, Steven Cowett and wife, Lisa of Vian, Ok.; daughters, Marilyn Horner and husband Chris of Muskogee, Ok., Cindy Martin of Vian, Ok., and Angela Cowett of Vian, Ok.; twenty-nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; son, David Cowett; grandson, Brandon Cowett; and granddaughter, Misha Horner.Visitation will be on Thursday, February 22nd, 2018 from 4-7pm in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of the Forever Memories Funeral Services, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw, Ok. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23rd at 2 pm in the Round Mountain Pentecostal Church in Vian, Ok., with Bro. Rice and Bro. Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in the Round Mountain Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Traye Martin, Doug Gallenwater, Jonathon Nichols, Steven Cowett, Devyn Brown and Dylan Brown. Honorary casket bearers will be Sherman Olive and Louis Bland. The family of Mrs. Cowett has entrusted Forever Memories Funeral Services, Sallisaw, OK. with the funeral arrangements.

  3. This lady here has always been respectful to me and treated me like one of her when i was growing up. She will be miss by everyone who knew her. May she rest in peace.

  4. Wanda was a beautiful woman inside & out. She loved her Lord, children & grand children more than anything in this life. She was a very special person to me & I will greatly miss her friendship!!!! I have wonderful memories that I will always cherish! May you all find Peace & Comfort!

  7. Wanda and I shared a birthday together. We always tried to share that day together. We would laugh and share a cupcake together. She was a Blessing in my life. God brings people together in our life time for a reason. Wanda always had a smile and a hug for anyone that would accept it. I miss her smile and kind words.
