Biography

Vernon Lee Edwards, 84, of Sallisaw, OK, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

He was born August 20, 1937,  in Wilson Rock, Oklahoma, to Ola Edith Edwards (Benge) and Joe Conley Edwards.

Vernon met the love of his life, Waynette Moss, in October of 1967. They were married on October 5, 1968, in Tulsa, OK. They spent 53 ½ wonderful years together. In 1971, he opened E&E Construction, where he continued to work until April 14, 2022. He also served an enlistment in the United States Army, then finished his obligation as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S Army Reserves. Vernon loved to travel and spend time with his family. He was of Christian faith and attended the First Assembly of God in Sallisaw for over 60 years.

Survivors include his wife, Zella Waynette Edwards; children, Mike Edwards, Sonya and Tommy Morgan of Sallisaw, OK, David and Racheal Edwards of Prattville, OK; siblings, Don Edwards, and wife Sharon Edwards; sister-in-law, Bernell Edwards; grandchildren, Chase Ross, Sydney Ross, Rayden Morgan, Ashton Edwards, Tyger Edwards, Jedi Edwards; great-grandchildren, Hollyn Grace Skaggs, and Emree Ross.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ola Edith Edwards (Benge); father, Joe Conley Edwards; brothers, Lonnie Edwards and August Edwards, and stepson, Steve Baker.

A visitation for Vernon will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, from 5-8 PM in the chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Services in Sallisaw.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Oakridge Assembly of God in Sallisaw, OK, at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery.

Casket bearers are Shaloa Edwards, Dalton Edwards, DeWayne Edwards, Darron Edwards, Kendal Edwards, and Joey Edwards.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services

  2. So sorry to hear this,will … I loved Aunt Ola an Uncle Joe.. I spent one summer with them, (mostly in the cellar lol )but I sure enjoyed time with them.. Veron will be missed by all who knew an loved him.. Praying for you all …Sonya, I know your pain, as I lost my Dad, a few months ago … Love an prayers being sent..
