Biography

Twilla Conley Mathews, 84, was born August 19, 1936 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Ellis and Georgia Conley, and passed away on February 28th, 2021 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to husband of 65 years Farrell Mathews on June 22nd, 1954.Twilla grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma where she graduated from Sapulpa High School and graduated from Cosmetology School in 1962. Following graduation from high school, she married the love of her life and they lived in the Red Fork area of West Tulsa and were members of the Allen Freewill Baptist Church. After moving to Gore, Ok in 1969, she worked at Gore Drug for seven years. During their years in the Gore area, they were active members of the Keefton Freewill Baptist Church and volunteered many hours participating in and supporting the church youth Way Cool missionary work. She then found her lifelong passion for finding treasures in antique stores and flea markets around the country. She and Farrell eventually opened MY PLACE COLLECTIBLES and spent the next many years collecting antique depression ware.She is survived by her daughter Debbie and husband Rick McClendon of Marble City, and Daughter In Law Jean Mathews of Springfield, Mo. She has eight grandchildren and they are, Devan Lincoln of Vian, Oklahoma, Jennifer Lombard and husband Ryan of Broken Arrow, Hillary Clark and husband BJ of Spiro, Oklahoma, Jeremey Mathews and wife Tiffani of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Julianne Donathan and husband Derek of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Mason Lincoln of Spiro, Oklahoma, Brittaney McMullen of Gore, Oklahoma and Jessica McClendon of Marble City Oklahoma. Twilla is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, one brother Frank Conley, one sister Louise Wilmott and one son, Cary Mathews. Visitation for family and friends will be held in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Service, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw, on Thursday March 4th from 5 to 7pm. Memorial services for Twilla Conley Mathews will be Friday, Mar 5, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel at the Forever Memories Funeral Services, Sallisaw. Pastor Danny Barks will officiate. She will be interred in the National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma at a later date The family wants to express appreciation to the Northeastern Health Sequoyah Home Health Care and Hospice Agency for all loving care and support shown to us during the past several months.   5. I sorry to hear of your mom’s passing, she was a very nice lady. I didn’t know they lived in Red Fork, we lived there in 1960-1963, small world.
