Biography

Joy Evans, 54, of Muldrow, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 in OKC, OK. Joy was born on December 20, 1961 in Elk City, OK to Arvil and Iris (Hutton) Henson.Joy graduated Roland High School and then attended West-ARK Community College receiving an Associate’s Degree in journalism. She then enlisted in the US Army serving in Germany. She worked in various capacities in the Gans School System, most recently as the supervisor of the food service program. She was preceded in death by her father.Joy is survived by her husband Larry, son-Jack Evans, both of Muldrow and daughter-Dylan Evans of Tahlequah. Her mother-Iris Henson of Fort Smith, siblings; Cammy Henson of Fort Smith, Mike Henson of Muldrow and Pat Grabe of Akins. Many cousins, nieces, nephews and the many friends she had met throughout her life. She was proud of her Cherokee lineage and enjoyed collecting traditional Cherokee arts and crafts.Family to receive friends on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Forever Memories Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Liberty Cemetery Pavilion of Roland, OK with Bro. Vance Mooney officiating. Honorary Casket Bearers will be; Ron Goff, Kiah Goff, Lance Lewis, Alex Lewis, Rick Rush and Derick Rush. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery.Family wishes in lieu of flowers, contribution to be made to The American Diabetes Assn., at www.diabetes.org

  2. Joy was such a great person, mother, wife,friend and coworker… She truly tought me so much and will be missed greatly… My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

  6. Joy was like family the first time Richard and I meant her.She was a blessing . . . .we could clearly see why Larry fell in love with her!Joy is in Heaven with her dad and lots of others that loved her so much. RIP sweetheart!
