Biography

Garland “Joe” Chandler, a driven, hard working, loved, honest man passed from this life on August 18, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born February 27,1956 in Amarillo, TX to Fay and Ollie Mae Fay Chandler. He went to work on the family farm at a young age which is where his love for being a cowboy began. One of his favorite adventures as a young man was joining the cattle drive where he was able to truly experience the cowboy way of life. Joe enjoyed working with his hands and became an excellent carpenter and home builder. He turned his passion for carpentry into a life-long career. If you had a vision, Joe had the skills to create it.

Survivors include 5 children, Angela Chandler, Joe Dale Chandler, Carolyn Ritenour and husband John Ritenour, Carrie Glover and husband James Glover, Kelton Chandler; Twelve grandchildren, Marissa, Madison, Ryan, Daylen, Kylie, Melanie, Gracie, Joseph, Lenora, Rachel, Alexis and Hayden; Four great grandchildren, Adalyn, Sadie, Owen and Thomas; Two Great grandchildren, Baby Rowdy and Baby Burnett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fay and Ollie May Fay; Two brothers, David Chandler and Roger Chandler; One sister, Janis Hewitt.

Visitation for Joe will be held Monday evening, Aug 23, 2021, from 4-8pm in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Services, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug 24, 2021, at 10 am in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel. Active pallbearers are Daylen Chandler, James Glover, Joseph Chandler, John Cates, Tommy Bettis, and Ryan Graham. Honorary pallbearers are Hayden Glover, John Ritenour, Laird Crowe, and Anthony Nelson.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw, OK.

  1. Our condolences to the family from Stavely Insurance. Joe was always a pleasure to work with. He never entered our office without a smile on his face. We will miss seeing him working around town and giving that friendly wave.

  2. Garland was a classmate of mine at Sentinel School. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. Garland was always a nice guy!
