Biography

Jennie Mae Roastingear, 59 of Brushy, passed away at her home on Sunday, Aug 8. 2021. She was born on Oct 6, 1961 in Tahlequah to Harold and Corena Mae (Glass) Roastingear. Jennie’s favorite pastime was to work her word search books and to enjoy her tv shows. She also enjoyed the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a very well educated woman with many accomplishments. She cared for her parents even though she had her own disability that she did not let slow her down. She was an amazing homemaker and was a fluent Cherokee speaker all her life. She enjoyed speaking with her brothers and sisters, and always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. Jennie was an excellent basketball player and lived a life with many adventures.

Survivors include her children, Rebecca Roastingear and Julia Beam; brothers and sisters, Johnny and Anita Roastingear of Crowne Point, NM, Phillip Roastingear of Tahlequah, James Roastingear of Brushy, David Roastingear of Nicut, Corena Maxine Mathews of Nicut; grandchildren, Cherokee Beam and Gabriella Beam; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Corena Roastingear, Rebecca Roastingear, Karen Roastingear, a brother in law Phillip Matthews, and a sister in law Jewel Roastingear.

Visitation for Jennie will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 4-7pm in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Services, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, Aug 17, 2021, at 2:00 pm in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel with burial in the Roastingear Cemetery, near Short, OK. Casket bearers will be Keith Mathews, Greg Mathews, Andrew Mathews, Chris Beam, Matthew Shafer, and Dewayne Bird. Honorary bearers are Johnny Roastingear and James Roastingear

  2. Jennie was more than a Cuz to me she was a sister in Christ… she always had a smile that kite the room up! I know she now is at rest and at Peace with her family! Jennie will be missed… RIP Cousin until we meet again!
