Biography

Raymond Douglass “Doug” Deer Jr., 55, of Sallisaw, passed away on Nov 8, 2020 in Fayetteville, AR. Doug was born on May 1, 1965 in McAlester, OK to Raymond Douglas Deer Sr and Sharron (Palmer) Deer. He was an amateur general class radio operator, spent many of his days outdoors and was an avid hunter. He was a retired police officer and a tactical ops instructor. Doug was of the Baptist faith, never met a stranger and always loved to make and see people laugh.He is survived by his parents, Raymond and Sharron Deer; sister, Rachelle Lyn Deer, aka “Sissy”; daughters, Aspen and her husband Joseph Farmer, and Brytni Deer; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and very close friends. He was blessed with a bonus family, Stephen, Janet, and Kimberly Farmer, and Annabel Rogers. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carol M Palmer and Pearl Styles-Palmer, aka “Granny Pearl”; paternal grandparents, Verlin E Burnett and Selva Douglass-Burnett; uncle, Jimmy Palmer; aunt, Judy Kay Palmer-Hill; Cousins Donald Lee Elliott Jr and David Keith Walkup Jr. Family and friends visitation for Doug will be on Sunday, Nov 15, 2020 from 1-5pm in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel, Forever Memories Funeral Services, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw, Ok.   2. My dad, John Hawkins, thought a lot of him. My dad was also an amateur radio operator and they were good friends. So sorry!
