Biography

CATHERN DARLENE TAYLOR, 75, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, was born at home on October 6, 1945, in the community of Prices Chapel, just north of Sallisaw to Felix George Jack Taylor and Virginia Cathern “Babe” (Rogers) Taylor. Her maternal Aunt, Della Rogers Mayfield assisted in her delivery. Darlene passed this life on September 25, 2021, at the age or 75 years. Darlene attended Sallisaw schools beginning in the first grade of the old Liberty two story building and graduated from Sallisaw High School with the Class of 1963. She continued her education attending Connors State College at Warner, OK, then earned both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees at Northeastern State College, in Tahlequah, OK, majoring in Education. She began her teaching career in Tulsa, OK, and later returned to her “dear old SHS” where she taught until her retirement.

She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw and attended faithfully until her health prevented her from doing so. She was a faithful servant to her Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. Darlene set a high bar for others by her many accomplishments and hard work during her life. As well as being an educator, she was also the co-owner and operator of a dairy farm for many years before returning to Sallisaw

She leaves behind to mourn her passing: One sister, Linda Taylor Lamb, and one sister-in-law, Donna Ross Taylor; both of Sallisaw; 3 NEPHEWS: Michial Taylor and wife Jennifer, of Sallisaw; Ross Taylor and wife, Misty of Edmond; and Jody Taylor and wife, Sarah, of Piedmont, OK; 7 GREAT NEPHEWS: Shane Flasher, Gabrial Taylor, Justin “Jet” Taylor, Luke Taylor, Jack Taylor, Jake Penn, Jaxon Wilks, Johnathon Taylor, and Keefer Taylor; 2 GREAT GREAT NEPHEWS: Caden Blount, and Colten Wilson; and 1 GREAT GREAT NIECE Phebi McMurtry, all of Sallisaw; 3 NIECES: Catherine Boyd of Sallisaw; Robin Taylor of Edmond, OK, and Keri Wilks and her husband Carl of Tulsa, OK; 4 GREAT NIECES: Lacey Armer and wife Mya, of Las Vegas, NV, Catherine McMurtry and husband David, of Sallisaw; Anna Taylor of Piedmont, OK; and Emma Taylor, of Edmond, OK. As well as many precious FIRST cousins; and TRULY a host of other family members and friends!

She was preceded in death by her parents, “Jack and Babe” Taylor; two loving brothers, F. Vaughan Taylor and Phillip N. Taylor; two sisters-in-law Peggy L. Taylor and LoVera Ann Taylor, one brother-in-law, W.G. “Butch” Lamb, and one nephew, Jonathan Keefe Taylor, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and very close friends.

Visitation for Cathern Darlene Taylor will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021, in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Services, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw from 1:00pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 2:00 pm, in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Services, 463505 Hwy 101,Sallisaw. Interment will follow in the Akins Cemetery, Sallisaw.
Arrangements are under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services, Sallisaw.
