Biography

Billy Charles Lattimore was born to Magnolia (Amos) Lattimore and R.B. “Dobe” Lattimore on December 2, 1934 in the Lattimore family home in Akins, OK. He passed from this world to rejoin his Savior and beloved wife, Roma, on Wednesday morning, December 23rd. Bill was the oldest of five siblings who he loved dearly. His family lived their own version of the “Grapes of Wrath” and left their home in Miller Ridge to travel and establish a home in Olivehurst, California in 1943, when he was 9 years old. It was there he met his wife and love of his life, Roma Kathryn (Strickland) Lattimore, a fellow Okie from Hoyt, Oklahoma. They were married in Reno, NV on May 3, 1952. In his time in California, Bill was employed by Ericson Lumber Company out of Olivehurst as supervisor. After expanding their family to a family of six and 26 sunny years in California, they returned home to Miller Ridge. After returning home, Bill devoted 21 years of service to the Sequoyah County Water Association, in which he retired from in 1999 holding the title of superintendent of the company. Bill is survived by his son, Robert Lattimore and wife Ima Lou, of Sallisaw, OK, daughter Teresa Lattimore-Catsavis, daughter Connie Olcott and husband, Grant, and son, Gary Don and wife, Paige, all of Akins, OK. He has left behind 9 grandchildren of the surrounding areas: Alisa, Amy, Blake, Austin, Angela, Cole, Melissa, Seth, and Madison and 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, 3 sisters: Lahoma Ross and husband John, Christine Henshaw and husband, A.J. both of Akins, and Charlotte Lessley and husband Jerry Don, of Sallisaw, as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 50 years, Roma, and his brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Doris Lattimore.Visitation for Bill, will be held Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 1:00-5:00 pm in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Service, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 28, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Akins Cemetery, northeast of Sallisaw.
