Jimmy David Belt, born on August 15, 1950, in Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away on March 29, 2025, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Jimmy’s remarkable life was marked by a profound dedication to family and an adventurous spirit that endeared him to all who knew him.
In his professional career, Jimmy served as an Owner/Operator Truck Driver, a vocation he embraced with great pride and commitment. Over the course of his career, he drove millions of miles without incident, a testament to his skill and professionalism in an industry that demands both attention and care. He embodied the spirit of a wild man, embracing life with passion and joy while cherishing the family he loved dearly.
Jimmy was a man of many interests and hobbies, including a particular love for drag racing. He owned several drag racing cars, reveling in the thrill of the sport, which mirrored his exuberant personality. His adventurous nature was complemented by a steadfast sense of duty, having served in the Army, a period of his life that shaped his values and character.
Family was undoubtedly his proudest accomplishment. He held a special bond with his grandchildren, showering them with affection and support throughout their lives. His legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Maydene Belt, One son Jason Belt and wife Teresa Belt, his daughter LeaAnn Taylor, and his son-in-law Jerry England. Two Grandsons, Jimmy England, and Jase Belt, and favorite grand-daughter Sydnei Cain. He is also survived by his sister, Vickie Neece. Recognizing the impact he had on others, Jimmy was also deeply cherished by Dirlene Helms, who played a motherly role in his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, J.D. Belt, his mother, Rita Louise Belt, his special mother-in-law, Coralee Taylor, and his sister, Shirley Sue Combs. These family members will be remembered alongside Jimmy, each contributing to the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on April 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 463505 OK-101, Sallisaw, OK 74955. The funeral service will take place the following day, at Watts Holiness Church, April 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Buffington Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Pastor Judd Ingram will be officiating, and pallbearers are Jimmy England, Jerry Long, Kevin Conger, Jerry England, Christian Taylor and Dan Lee. Honorary pallbearers are Jase Belt, Richard Hicks, and Ronnie Alexander.
As we celebrate the extraordinary life of Jimmy David Belt, we remember not just the milestones he achieved, but the joy he spread and the love he instilled in those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be profoundly missed but always cherished in our hearts.
