Benjamin Tommy Callahan

A very proud Cherokee Citizen Benjamin Tommy Callahan, 80, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma was born August 19, 1944 in Sallisaw the 3rd of 10 children to Raymond and Bonnie (Allen) Callahan and passed away on February, 02, 2025 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He attended Sallisaw area schools and also in Tucson, Arizona. He married Sharon Wiegel and had four boys: Loren, Edward, Brett, and Karl. They divorced and he re-married Nancy Herrick McGee and gained two step-sons Mike and Gale McGee and daughter Carol.

Ben is Survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy Callahan of the home, two sons Brett (Kim) of Littleton, Colorado and Karl (Rose) of Arvada Colorado. Also Mike McGee of Denver and Gale (Kendra) McGee of Great Falls, Montana and daughter  Carol Clark of Denver, Colorado, two sisters, Barbara Cummings and Shirley Hoffman. Five brothers Wes, Bill, Charlie, John, and Frank and the mother of his children, Sharon. He is also Survived by 17 grandchildren which includes grandson Sean Harris that he and Nancy helped raise. 21 great-grandchildren including Anabella Callahan that they gained custody of in 2013 at her age of 3, and is now 15.

Ben was preceded in death by two sons, Loren and Edward, Grandson Anthony Callahan, brothers JR and Virgle, parents Raymond and Bonnie Callahan, in-laws Gene and Evelyn Herrick, 2 daughter in laws, 2 brother in laws, 2 nieces and a nephew.

Ben was a drywall subcontractor/ business owner most of his life and then a big rig truck driver traveling to all 48 contigent states. Ben and Nancy Moved numerous times living in Colorado, Luray, KS, and Oklahoma.

Cremation has been chosen and no services have been scheduled at this time. Memorials may be sent to Nancy Callahan at 918 West Redwood Avenue in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. 

Arrangements have been entrusted with Forever Memories Funeral Services.
