Biography

Wilma Lee Matlock, 81, a long-time resident of Roland Ok, passed away Monday the 27th of April at Baptist Health Center in Fort Smith Arkansas. Born December 3rd 1938 in Sallisaw Ok the daughter of Roy and Callie Duty. She spent her childhood playing on their farm in Akins Ok., fishing, and causing mischief with her 8 siblings. In 1960 she welcomed her first of four children into the world. She worked in the food service industry for over 30 years, striving to provide for her family. She was the Best “Granny” there ever was to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren! Nothing made her happier or gave her more joy than her children and grandchildren, except maybe the OKC Thunder! She was the best friend and ally a person could ask for. She was a wonderful soul capable of making anyone, no matter their status or stature, feel like they were the most important person in the room. She loved with her whole heart, and her family was blessed beyond measure to have had her for over 81 years. She is proceeded in death by her Parents – Roy and Callie Duty; Sisters – June Parks & Betty Sutton; and Son – Dennis Walters.She is survived by Siblings – Don and Carolyn Adair of Muskogee Ok, Hazel Burrow of Tulsa Ok, Darlene Burton of Sallisaw Ok, Kay Marion of Sallisaw Ok, Roy “Skip” Duty Jr. & Linda Meyers of Sallisaw Ok, Carnell and Phyllis Duty of Sallisaw Ok. Her children – Dean and Cheylone Myers of Roland Ok, Bobby and Amber Walters of Welch Ok, Lyle and Lisa Parman of Roland Ok; Grandchildren – Barton and Lindsey Lewis of Muldrow Ok, Jay and Amy Nichols of Roland Ok, Daniel Smith of Green River Wyoming, Cody Walters of Roland Ok, Dakotah Walters of Muldrow Ok, Kaleb and Dakota Parman of Muskogee Ok, Kaley Parman of Roland Ok, Evan and Sidney Walters of Fayetteville Ar, Sadie Walters of Roland Ok, Chaz Herd of Bartlett Ks, Chase Herd of Branson Mo, Halle Brenton of Welch Ok; And several great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.Visitation, following CDC guidelines for social distancing, will be held on Thursday evening, Apr 30, 2020 from 5-7pm in the Roland Funeral Chapel, 420 W Ray Fine Blvd, Roland. Graveside services will be held under CDC guidelines on Friday, May 1, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Akins Cemetery, Sallisaw, with Bro. Carl Cheshier officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Lyle Parman, Dean Myers, Kaleb Parman, Chase Pyeatt, Evan Morton, Jay Nichols, Barton Lewis, and Cody Walters; with Malcom Warrior, Dakota Walters, Jaxon Nichols, and Kawliga Lewis serving as honorary casket bearers.Funeral services are under the direction of the Roland Funeral Chapel, in association with Forever Memories Funeral Service, Sallisaw.

  1. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time and forever. Just know that we love you and are here for you all. Wilma was a beautiful lady and had a sweet soul. May she meet up with Mama and Daddy and drink coffee and have a good ol’ time.

  3. I was so sorry to hear about Wilma . My thoughts and prayers are with all u kids , sisters, and brothers . I always ask Skip and Carnell about Wilma and all the girls when I would see them. Just know I love and care about all of u.
