Michael Kevin Vance was born December 22, 1956, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to proud parents John Harvey Vance and Cuby Zale Teague Barnhill and passed away on June 25, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He lived in Sallisaw until the late 1980s, when he moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to pursue his education.

He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Northeastern State University, which complemented his natural ability and vivid imagination of writing.

Mike leaves behind his siblings: Tony and wife Debbie Vance of Cookson, Kim Harp of Sallisaw, Darren and wife Lisa Barnhill of Sallisaw, Renee Muniz of Tulsa, and Jonathan Vance of Bixby.

He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews that he loved as his own: Chris Vance of Tahlequah, Eric Vance of Cookson, Mark, and wife Kery Vance of Cookson, Kacie and husband Silas Real of Sallisaw, Brandon and wife Heather Barnhill of Halls, Tennessee, Logan Barnhill of Tulsa and Hannah Harp of Sallisaw. Also, his great nephews and great nieces Noah Vance of Tahlequah, Asher Real of Sallisaw, McKenna Real of Sallisaw, and Luke Barnhill of Halls, Tennessee. Mike will never forget his dearest friend, Dottie Creason.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 4:00 – 8:00 in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Services in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

A graveside service will be held at Akins Cemetery on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM with Heath Wood officiating.

Mike’s nephews, whom he cherished dearly, will serve as pallbearers.

The family has entrusted the arrangements to Forever Memories Funeral Services, INC, Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
