  5. I’m heartbroken to hear of Mel’s passing. We knew he was ill but didn’t know how ill he was. If we had known we would have tried to be of some assistance to the family. We loved this sweet Christian man. He was an asset to our Gideon ministry and a wonderful friend.. Brenda, if we can help in anyway, please let us know.   6. I remember when I met Mel and Brenda for the first time and I enjoyed having many Gideon meetings and meals together. He was our Chaplin for three years and did a great job. He was a great example of what a Christian should be. I really loved his closing prayers, sometimes I wished I could have copyrighted them. These are memorable to me. Brenda, we are praying for God to be at your side all of the way through this time in your life, if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Love you always

  8. Brenda and family, We just wanted to says few words about Mel. He was always so friendly and such a genuine person. Terry says Mel made him an honorary member of the Maverick Sunday School class. ???? Terry thought that was so neat and so did I considering daddy, Grady Farmer, was a member of that same Sunday school class. Mel was a wonderful Christian man. I’m sure he’s enjoying his new home in Heaven. Love ya, Terry and Fonda ????????????????????????????????

  9. So sorry to hear of Mr. Martin’s passing. He was one of my favorite teachers in school and left a memorable impression in my life. Thank you for teaching me your wisdom and shaping me into the adult I am today. You will be greatly missed by all the lives you touched. Prayers for Mrs. Martin and family.

  11. So sorry to hear of Mel’s passing. We had a lot of good times when our kids were growing up and I had so much fun working with Mel at Middle School. Mom will be 91 the 20th of this month and not sure about getting her out in this weather but she just loved Mel and your family. We will be praying for you all and if there is ever anything we can do to help don’t hesitate to call.

  13. I had the privilege of teaching my first year with Mr. Martin. He was such a respected gentleman. He did however kinda scare me???? But the kids he taught back in my day learned what the word "respect" meant. That is something I have carried out in my adult life. Thank You Mr. Martin???? Prayers for you Brenda and your girls.

  19. Sincere condolences. I am so privileged to have M2 for 8th grade algebra. He was truly a wonderful person, and an incredible teacher who will never be forgotten.

  23. One of the best men that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. More importantly, he taught me about life and how important the choices we make today are to the integrity of our future. This man instilled algebra skills in me, that I pass on daily to my students. Brenda, I am sorry for your families loss.

  26. Mr. Martin was one of my favorite teachers. He was so kind but everyone knew he meant business. I was never a math whiz, but he never made me feel stupid- he just ion his matter of fact way gave me confidence. Both Mr and Mrs. Martin will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m so sorry for your loss because a guy like that is impossible to replace.

  30. Wow! This one hit home for me! What an amazing mathematics teacher Mr. Mel Martin was. Also, really enjoyed talking to his wife, Mrs Brenda Martin, who was a counselor at Tommie Spear Junior High. I also got to know his two daughters, Simone & Reagan in high school.Praying for Brenda and her two daughters and the entire family during this loss! What an amazing man and a huge influence on my life.Thank you for all you did Mr. Martin to mold me into the guy I am!
