  1. I became acquainted with Loyd as a Park Ranger with the Corps of Engineers. Although we didn’t work together at the same lakes during his tenure, we would often visit with each other at various meetings and conferences. Always appreciated his friendship which he willingly extended to all. Also, enjoyed his sense of humor and stories so much. I do hope the good memories of him will prevail for family and friends, as they do for me, and bring comfort and peace for the future.Rest in peace, my friend…

  4. I was blessed to work with Loyd for 11 years and we became friends. Kerr was a family for many of us who worked there and we also spent time together after work. We had amazing float trips down the Illinois and Loyd was famous for his pond parties. My girls loved coming to the office, the float trips and pond parties. Loyd touched many lives and was a great and caring friend who will be missed by many. I’m proud to have been a River Rat with him. Wayne you remain in our thoughts and prayers. Cherish your memories of your Dad and know he will always be with you in your heart and as your guardian angel.

  5. Loyd was Papa Loyd to all my grandsons. He was a friend to many and always willing to lend a helping hand. We will all miss you Papa Loyd. Rest in peace!

  6. I met Loyd in July 1992 when I started work at Robert S. Kerr, he was the lake manager. Loyd was a great friend as well as a co-worker and fellow River Rat. We were all like family we enjoyed our jobs and as friends we had great times including float trips down the Illinois, pond parties at Loyd’s and other get togethers. I remember when Loyd became the wine maker he always brought me different kinds to give to Ed. He was kind and generous, he always had time for my girls. So Loyd you were loved by many and you will be mourned by many. Wayne our thoughts and prayers are with you. Your Dad was proud of the man you are. Cherish your memories, remember the great times and know that your Dad is always with you and now watches over you as your guardian angel.

  7. I didn’t know Loyd for very long, but for the 4 years I knew him for and the many that my boyfriend, Treyton, got to know him he definitely made an impression. He was Treytons best friend and someone Treyton always knew he could rely on. He was always kind to me and was always a friend to me and treated me just like I was one of the grandkids. Treyton and I will always remember his tales of adventure and we can both only hope to live a life even half as amazing as his was. I know we will both always have him in our hearts.

  8. We will always remember Loyd as a warm, friendly and skilled raconteur. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family and close friends.

  9. What a GREAT GUY…I was a friend to Loyd for many years. From pheasant hunting to the great bear hunt in Canada. Had a great time with him. As with many of his other friend I will miss him a great deal. We loaded the pickup full of deer with his son Wayne to a ton of dove with his brother Floyd. Rest in Peace my friend , you will be missed by my family and myself. If you are in heaven reading this , remember "Spanky"

  10. Sorry to hear about this loss. We attended church with Loyd for several years in the past and will always remember his perfect and deep voice naratives of our Easter and Christmas Cantatas. He was a wonderful addition to our musical programs and greatly appreciate by the church members. Later, it was not unusual to see him at the post office or around town and he always had a good word. Our deepest sympathies and prayers to the family.
