Biography

Jack L. Phillips, 74, of Sallisaw, passed this life on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Sallisaw, Ok. Jack was born January 16, 1944 in Shreveport, LA to Goodwin and Louise (Philipson) Phillips. His mother passed during childbirth and he was raised by Katherine (Graham), whom later married Mr. Phillips. Jack was retired as a welder from the City of Ft. Smith and was a member of New Beginnings Church. He married Thelma Doris Philpot on September 4, 1965.He is survived by sons, John Phillips and Steve Mobbs of Ft. Smith, Ar., Jackie and Kristi Phillips of Sallisaw, Ok., Jamie and Misty Phillips of Sallisaw, Ok., Jerod Phillips of Sallisaw, Ok.; daughter, Tonya and husband Randy Thomas of Sallisaw, Ok.; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Sauls of Knoxville, TN, and Shirley Bell of Meridian, MS; as well as a host of friends and family.Jack is preceded in death by his wife Thelma; and his parents; and one brother, Bobby Knapp.Visitation for Mr. Phillips will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of the Forever Memories Funeral Service in Sallisaw. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00 am in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of the Forever Memories Funeral Service, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw, with Reverend Trent Rhoads and Reverend Joey Duvall officiating. Interment will follow in the Brushy Cemetery. Pallbearers are John Phillips, Jackie Phillips, Jamie Phillips, Jerod Phillips, David Haskins, and Steve Mobbs. Honorary pallbearers will be James (Bubba) Rogers, Jamie Fargo, Richard Taylor, and Randy Wade Thomas.Services are entrusted to and under the direction of the Forever Memories Funeral Service, Sallisaw.
