Charles "Pawdaddy" Comer

Charles "Pawdaddy" Comer

Biography

Charles Henry “Pawdaddy” Comer, 68, was born on Oct. 31, 1952, in Ralls, TX to Joseph Henry and Frances Alvena (Marsh) Comer. He passed from this life at his home on Sept 22, 2021, in Gans, OK surrounded by his family. He was married to his wife, Shala Denise Garrity Hicks on Dec 31, 1975, in Dimmit, TX.

Pawdaddy, was a jack of all trades and a master of none, and he said so himself. He spent most of his time working on vehicles, and when he wasn’t doing that, you could find him at Git-n-Go buying scratchers. His weekends were spent in various diners, and fishing on land he wasn’t supposed to be fishing on, but how he spent his time isn’t what’s important to remember. He was a great man who helped so many people, a great stubborn man that you either loved or hated, but his family adored him. He would do anything for anybody who asked, and even if he had an odd way of showing it, he had the biggest heart. We will miss his stupid answers to our stupid questions and listening to him sing and whistle, loud and off key in the kitchen. We are so grateful to have gotten the chance to love and be loved by him.

He is survived by his wife, Shala Comer of the home; 3 children, Zeberiah and his wife Sheila Comer of Seven Oaks, Rheanna “Banana” England of Gans, Leah and her husband Josh Jerrell of Gans; 9 grandchildren, Angel, Sarah, Charlie, Kaylee, Jaxon, Zac, Meghan, and Joshua; 3 great grandchildren, Kyrie, Gavin, and Linnox; 2 sisters, Jackie Smothermon, and Karen Rebecca Wyche; and 1 brother, Joseph William Comer; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Frances, 2 brothers, Jimmy Don Marsh and Wesley “Pat” Lee Comer, and 1 sister, Robin Chambers.

He mowed her grass, worked on her car and when she locked the keys in the car several times he would unlock it for her. He was always kind and mom will miss him so much. I often told him he was eating stars in his crown and I’m sure he is wearing a heavy one now. RIP sweet man.😪

Watch over Shala and all your children and grandchildren as they each had special memories of you. You also had those, like me, who was blessed to count you as a friend. I am thankful you no longer are in pain, but young and whole. I loved you my friend.

  9. All of us at Gans Git-N-Go that knew him, joked with him, and served him, are feeling a great loss. It was nothing to see him 7 different times in one day at the store. He was a part of us and we looked forward to and expected to see him every day. Chad and I also had an even closer relationship with him. He fixed our vehicles and our friends vehicles and we trusted him and he trusted us. We considered him not only as a customer, but as a friend. He will truly be missed.
