Biography

AC Cowans Sr. 85, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away June 11, 2017 in Kansas City. He was brought forth on this earth on May 23, 1932 in Wybark, Oklahoma from the union of Jeff Cowans and Sherry Harrison-Drew. He was proceeded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charles and Leon, and his sister, Geraldine. AC served honorably in the Korean Way as a Heavy Truck Operator. Upon returning home, he worked in many occupations before retiring as a Crane Operator from National Compressed Steel. AC continued in the service of others by providing transportation to the less able citizens within his community. His daily compassion to others, especially seniors, that provides so much, but he sought so little is a true testament in humanity. AC Cowans is survived by his children: Darlene Verser, Zackery Cowans, Terrance Cowans, Tina Jones, A.C. Cowans Jr., Letitia Riggins, and Cythnia Brown; brothers: Emmanuel Drew and Thomas D. Drew; sisters: Mildred Phelps, Gertha Cubit, Doretha Taylor, Gloria Thornton, Sirretta Davis and Linda Willis; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of many other loving relatives and extended family. Funeral service for Mr. Cowans will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Mt Olive Baptist Church, 451302 E 1070 Road, Vian, Ok. Pastor Thomas D. Drew will officiate. A time of visitation for family and friends will begin at noon on the 16th immediately prior to the funeral service in the Sanctuary of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery, Vian, OK immediately following the funeral service.Arrangements are under the direction of the Forever Memories Funeral Service, 463505 Hwy 101, Sallisaw, OK 918-775-2222.

  1. To: My Beautiful Family! My heart is saddened because I can not be in attendance with you today. Cousin A.C. was one of my favorite cousin’s. He was always quiet and humble. He would give you the shirt off his back, if you needed it. I’m sure in his 85 years of life he has taught us to love, be kind and caring. Life is about living so live with respect and honesty. Love the Lord with all you got. Make peace with yourself and other’s. Treat people the way you want to be treated. In order to make America Beautiful, it starts with each and everyone of us. There are some of You, I’ve never met! Only by Facebook but, I want you to know, I LOVE MY FAMILY….NOW PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE BECAUSE THAT’S THE ONLY WAY COUSIN A.C.
