Biography

James Michael Fine, 76, of Sallisaw, OK, passed away on August 22, 2022.

He was born on May 16, 1946, to Loretta Fine (Tabor) and Joel Fine, at his paternal grandparents’ home in Akins, OK, which was on land that was deeded by the Cherokee Land Allotment.

Mike lived in many different places in the U.S and Europe as an Air Force kid. He returned to Sallisaw as a freshman in High School and was active in sports as a Sallisaw Black Diamond. He was able to wear the number 20, following the tradition of his older brother. His younger brother, children, and grandchildren have worn that number often, much to his delight. As an adult, Mike loved to watch his children and grandchildren play many different sports. He was known to give a lot of advice along the way. Most of his life he worked as a lathe operator in the automotive manufacturing industry. He and his wife, Gail, were married 57 years. Mike was a baptized believer of Jesus Christ. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joel Fine and Loretta Fine, and his brothers, Mark Fine and Douglas Fine.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Fine; children, Lori R. Smith, Brent M. Fine, Derek R. Fine; sister, Deborah Sloat; grandchildren, Sheldon Smith, Bailey Smith, Gracee Fine, Parker Fine, Taden Fine, Phoenix Fine, Luna Fine, and Freyja Fine.

A private Celebration of life will take place for the family only on Friday, August 26, 2022.
